Lakeside Golf Retreats: SC’s Finest Golf Resorts on Lakes

With its balmy beaches, American Southern charm, and a reputation as the ‘Golf Capital of the World’, Myrtle Beach is an idyllic golf destination. But did you know that the coastal city is also home to some of South Carolina’s finest golf resorts on lakes? From manicured greens that juxtapose serene lake views to luxurious accommodations and off-course amenities, these lakeside golf retreats present a unique blend of natural beauty and world-class golfing experiences.

Arrowhead Country Club

Nestled along South Carolina’s scenic Intracoastal Waterway is Arrowhead Country Club, known for its 27-hole golf complex. One-third of this complex, The Lakes, blends flawlessly into the lake sprawled beside it – creating a playfield that’s as challenging as it’s breathtaking. The course’s signature hole, a par-4 5th, demands a perilously accurate shot over the water to a peninsula green. With its luxuriant Bermuda fairways, MiniVerde Bermuda greens, and stunning lake views, it’s no wonder that the Arrowhead Country Club often finds a mention in the top-tier of South Carolina’s golf courses.

Grande Dunes Resort Club

Another precious jewel in Myrtle Beach’s crown is the Grande Dunes Resort Club – a high-end golf resort on the Grande Dunes Marina. This 18 holes, par-72 course offers panoramic views of the Intracoastal Waterway, the Marina, and pockets of the preserved woodland. But the real highlight here lies around the 14th hole, where you get uninterrupted lake vistas that are simply dazzling. Grande Dunes Resort ensures a golf course that provides a test for golfers of all skill levels and a memorable lakeside golfing experience.

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club is widely held as one of the best golf courses in South Carolina. Its natural beauty is highlighted by breathtaking views of Singleton Swash, an enchanting tidal creek that feeds into Lake Arrowhead. This Robert Trent Jones-designed course boasts a challenging golf experience coupled with a chance to enjoy a breathtaking and utterly serene natural setting. No 13, known as ‘Waterloo’, offers the most direct routing around Lake Singleton, providing golfers with very appealing yet challenging play.

Tidewater Golf Club

Sculpted into a natural seaside landscape, Tidewater Golf Club bestows panoramic lake views rivaled only by its own immaculate layout and condition. Set on a dramatic bluff, Tidewater provides stunning views of Cherry Grove Inlet from its clubhouse, making it one of the most scenic clubs in the region. Moreover, don’t miss the hole 12 that runs beside a lake, leaving memories of a spectacular lakeside shot lingering long after your round.

Barefoot Resort & Golf

Last on the list but certainly not the least, Barefoot Resort & Golf is a sprawling resort featuring four high-quality golf courses. The Love Course, designed by Davis Love III, blends seamlessly into the natural beauty of Barefoot Resort’s serene lakes. With picturesque par-3s, unique geometry lands, and Carolina Pine trees lining the fairways, the Love course at Barefoot Resort offers an unforgettable golf getaway overlooking tranquil lakes.

Myrtle Beach is a gem that has the unique distinction of offering ocean-side fairways and stunning lakeside retreats in the same golfing package. The abode of top-notch golf courses, stunning fairways, and mesmerizing lakes, the “Golf Capital of the World” promises golf enthusiasts a varied collection of courses paired with extraordinary views. With the enchanting lakeside golf retreats mentioned above, your trip to Myrtle Beach can turn into an amazing golf pilgrimage that you would want to take time and again.

Great read! Now, I have an even longer list of golf retreats to visit in the near future. Just can’t beat a round of golf fused with South Carolina’s natural beauty. The Tidewater Golf Club has definitely piqued my interest. Hole 12 overlooking the lake sounds like a dream. Can’t wait to be in Myrtle Beach, sinking birdies with the dazzling lake as a backdrop. But first, I need to work on my swing!

  2. As a golf enthusiast who has been lucky to play at a few of these lakeside gems, I must say that this blog post does justice to their sheer beauty and challenge. Grande Dunes Resort Club is particularly enchanting due to its serenity, and Arrowhead’s 5th hole? Man, that’s a tough one to crack. Anyway, has anyone experienced any wildlife encounters while playing these courses? Some of those lakes look like prime spots for gators!
